‘Street Fighter 5’ Gameplay, News & Update: Sombra From ‘Overwatch’ Invades ‘SFV’ Via New Mod; Who’s To Come Next?

The latest in "Street Fighter 5" calls for a celebratory toast to fans of "Overwatch." While both games are set completely in different realms, YouTuber TheJamk managed to cram Sombra into Capcom's "SFV" and made a remarkable job in re-skinning the hero.

"Street Fighter 5" Gets An "Overwatch" Treatment

The new mod puts Sombra in place of "Street Fighter 5's" Laura, both sharing a cunning resemblance. Both fighters sport quite similar hairstyles; their physiques are quite the same, and even their skin color is a close match. This makes the mod a rather impressive addition to the game.

To recall, Sombra's revelation caused a commotion quite a bit, that the hero was modeled from "Street Fighter 5's" Laura, as per Eurogamer. Although Blizzard dismissed the idea, it can be easily noticed that the only difference in both characters is how their hair is rendered.

Modder TheJamk is clearly keen on the idea and gave life to Sombra in "Street Fighter 5" through Laura. "Well, I think it was obvious this Mod," TheJamk said via YouTube. "I'm not exactly proud of the animation in the clothes, but I think it's not that bad," he continued.

Other "Overwatch" Characters in "Street Fighter 5"

GameSpot reports that this isn't the first time an "Overwatch" character somehow made its way into "Street Fighter 5." Previously, modders have added Mei, Tracer, D.Va, Reinhardt and Roadhog.

D.Va was used in place for Karin, Mei as R. Mika, Tracer as Cammy and Reinhardt for Zangief. The mods have made "Street Fighter 5" more interesting as it already is and the freshest one yet, Sombra/Laura is quite an attraction.

Blizzard and Capcom have both made headlines recently, as Blizzard is prepping for a yet-to-be-announced first-shooter game and Capcom announcing that "Street Fighter 5" would be on a roll until 2020. Noting the keenness of modders to incorporate "Overwatch" fighters in "Street Fighter 5," it's likely that we're about to see more in the near future.
