'Stranger Things' Cast Updates & Latest News: Comedian Brett Gelman Confirmed to Play Conspiracy Theorist; Millie Bobby Brown, Co-Star in the Cover of British Magazine

The second season of the hit series “Stranger Things” is starting to take shape with the addition of new and interesting characters. Just recently, a new male character has been confirmed to join the Netflix sci-fi drama set in the 1980s.

According to reports, comedian Brett Gelman has been tapped to play a recurring role when “Stranger Things” returns. The actor os set to play the role of Murray Bauman who is a journalist who became a conspiracy theorist. He will be first seen as looking into a cold case in Hawkins.

The actor Gelman, who is also a producer, will be seen next in the 2017 revival of the cult classic Twin Peaks. He will be joining the lineup of previously announced newcomers in “Stranger Things” like Sean Astin, Sadie Sink, Paul Reiser, Dacre Montgomery and Linnea Berthelsen.

EP Shawn Levy has hinted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that many more interesting characters are being added to the series. The new characters have to first and foremost service the core group of “Stranger Things” characters although they will be compelling on their own. He added that the latest additions are multigenerational and really intriguing.

In other news, two of the breakout stars of “Stranger Things” will be in the cover of the winter issue of Dazed. Millie Bobby Brown who plays the popular Eleven and Finn Wolfhard, who is Mike in the series, scored the British magazine cover shot by photographer Collier Schorr.

Despite their quick rise to fame, the 12-year old Wolfhard insists that they are like any other normal teenagers. Even if he greatly appreciates the support given to him by fans, however, he asks them to channel their admiration and obsession to him to something more creative. Wolfhard has been quoted as saying that he would rather the fans write a song about him instead.

The second season of “Stranger Things” will be made up of nine episodes. It is expected to be available for streaming on Netflix on July 2017.
