Tickets for Minecon 2013 now on sale

Hope you have some money in the 'ol coin purse, because tickets for Minecon 2013 are now on sale. 2,500 tickets are available in today's batch, and if past cons are of any indication, they'll be going pretty damn quick.

Interested fans best head over to Mojang's official Minecon site, which features some pretty chill music, too. If they're all out by the time you get there, no worries, you'll still have two more chances to get a ticket. The second batch goes on sale this Friday, August 2nd at 7AM PDT / 10AM EDT, and the third batch goes on sale Saturday, August 3rd, at 12:00 PM PDT / 3PM EDT.

Each ticket will cost $150 each. If you're an out of towner, Mojang is advising you to look at hotels that are offering special rates for the convention.

After a brief jaunt over at Disneyland Paris, the very own convention of the literal sandbox game Minecraft returns to where it all began, the good 'ol U.S. of A, specifically, Orlando, Florida. The Mojang staff settled on Orlando after a very rigorous selection process.

Lydia Winters, Mojang's Director of Fun (best job title ever by the way), clued us in back in mid-March that the convention was coming back to the United States, but she remained hush on providing any more specific details: "It'll be in the US, that's for sure. It's most definitely in the US. That's all I can say. I would like to tell more, but it's not 100% certain so I can't say anything yet," was all she said at a SXSW panel.

Minecon started with humble beginnings in Bellevue, Washington, followed by a much more impressive reception in Las Vegas, so it's only fitting that it head back to where it all began.

Minecon's are typically accompanied by announcing massive updates for the game, such as the recent Redstone Update. The most recent Minecon at Disneyland Paris played host to over 4,500 people, about the same as the year before.

Minecon 2013 will take place November 2nd to the 3rd, at Orlando, Florida's Orange County Convention Center.
