Deadpool’s Merc with a Map Pack DLC released

High Moon Studios and Activision’s recently released beat ‘em up title Deadpool may not have received the kind of response the companies were hoping for, but that doesn’t mean the game is all done and over with. According to reports, the studio has released a new map pack for the game, titled Merc with a Map Pack.

The Merc with a Map Pack DLC offers two new Challenge Mode maps for the game’s Infinite and Challenge modes, alongside two new outfits for Infinite mode. It is to be noted that these are the same outfits – D-Pooly and Uncanny X-Force – that were featured as pre-order bonuses for those who purchased the game from retail chain GameStop.

The DLC includes two new maps, GRT Plaza and Inside the Tower, and can be played in both Challenge and Infinite Modes. Xbox 360 owners will be able to get the new pack for 240 MS Points, while PC and PS3 owners can buy the DLC pack for $2.99.

Deadpool arrived back in June this year and revolves around the ostensible Deadpool, who is known for his comedic episodes and total badassery in the comics. However, what sets Deadpool apart from other similar superheroes or superhero titles is the fact that the merc with a mouth is completely self-aware.

Whenever he has made any appearance in a video game (like Marvel vs. Capcom 3), he has always been aware of the fact that he's a comic character, and what’s happening around him, breaking down the fourth wall. In his own game for example, let the character stand idle for a bit, and he'll start tapping on the television glass.

A number of other Marvel heroes and villains appear alongside and against the merc with a mouth, including on again off again partner Cable, Domino, Wolverine, Mr. Sinister, Psylocke, and others. The game's plot revolves around Deadpool accepting a mission to assassinate a corrupt media mogul, only for the mogul to eventually be saved, and eventually killed by Sinister. For taking his meal ticket, Deadpool decides to take up arms against the Marvel baddie.

Deadpool was first announced at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con.
