With "Star Trek Into the Darkness" in the works, fans of the science fiction franchise might be asking what is next for Captain Kirk and the rest of the Starship Enterprise. Well, it seems like fans no longer had to wait since "Star Trek 4" is now officially on development. In fact, actors Chris Pyne and Zachary Quinto are now signed up to reprise their role for the upcoming movie.
According to the released official synopsis for the upcoming "Star Trek" sequel. The film will follow Captain James T. Kirk as he embarks on a journey to meet a man he never had a chance to meet but whose legacy has haunted him the day he was born. In addition to these details, Paramount Pictures has officially announced the return of actor Chris Hemsworth to take on the role of George Kirk, the long lost father of James T. Kirk who fans last saw on 2009's Star Trek, will return to fight alongside his son played by Chris Pyne.
Furthermore the upcoming Star Trek sequel will make use of a newly established Kelvin Timeline shift to explain how the former Captain manages to return in the world of the living. Fans are looking forward to see how the former captain will react upon meeting his then infant son as a grown man for the first time in "Star Trek 4." Paramount Pictures has also confirmed that the script will be written by J.D Payne and Patrick McKay.
It is worth noting that Star Trek 4 has yet to have neither an official title nor a confirmed release date. The only thing that is certain at this point is hiring of directors and writers of the upcoming fourth installment of the modern film franchise. It is expected to be a treat for the long time fans of Captain James Kirk and the rest of crew aboard the Enterprise.
