'Dead Rising 4' Release Date, News & Update: Capcom Bringing Back Timer to Create Three More Sequels; 'Frank Rising' DLC Arriving with Deluxe Edition

There's so much buzz surrounding Capcom's "Dead Rising 4" as we approach the game's highly anticipated release date of December 6. Aside from the open world survival action-adventure game, the studio is also releasing the "Frank Rising" DLC arriving with the Deluxe Edition of the game. "Dead Rising 4" has removed the timer from some part of the game, but the latest news surrounding it is that Capcom's bringing back timer to create three more sequels.

Fans of the "Dead Rising 4" franchise have been divisive when it comes to the game's timer. For some, it's an unnecessary feature that adds pressure to the game. For others, it adds thrill. Capcom themselves admitted that they removed the timer to enable gamers to fully explore the open world setting of the game, and it seems now they've decided to keep it for further iterations of the game. You read that right, there are more "Dead Rising" games in the works, as Capcom is looking to release three more sequels.

VG24/7 reports that as per Capcom Vancouver studio head Joe Nickolls, they've reached a compromise with regards to the timer. Here's why they're bringing back the timer to create three more sequels. They decided that it's best to put the timer towards the end in multiplayer mode. In addition, it seems that the timer will also be present in the "Frank Rising" DLC arriving with the Deluxe Edition of the game.

Meanwhile, Nickolls explained that "Dead Rising 4" isn't the end of the road for the franchise, as their goal was to make a product that would be able to create three more sequels for the franchise. The reason why they removed the timer in the first place was to empowered the format of the game and expand the franchise. Executive producer Bryce Cochrane admitted that it would take risks to bring the game to further heights, and such risk included bringing back the timer.

It seems that "Dead Rising 4" is seeing a timely release date, just following Black Friday and Thanksgiving. According to PC Gamer, Nickolls said that the game has underlying consumerist themes that most gamers would probably look past. It would be interesting to know, nonetheless that the producers of the game included some themes and messages that "might make you think a little bit more than usual."

"Dead Rising 4" arrives on December 6 to Xbox One and Windows PC. In the meantime, check out the recently released soundtrack, featuring several Christmas-themed tracks, and the awesome vehicles that are set to slaughter zombies in the upcoming game.
