Driveclub VS Driveclub VR: Changes, Details, Feature Comparison Revealed; What To Expect For Tech Gear?

What is the price to pay for the adaptation of Driveclub game for the PlayStation VR? In a comparative video, which puts the virtual reality version side by side with the normal version, Digital Foundry has found the answer.

Despite being one of the most engaging games of the PlayStation VR, the visual quality suffered a major shake. In addition to the resolution factor of Driveclub, the game is smaller in the PlayStation VR version and there is noticeable degradation in lighting.

The lighting in Driveclub VR continues to be based on the physical properties of the objects, however, the system is a much simpler version of the original Driveclub game. There are things that have been completely removed from this version, like the passage of time as we were traveling a course. This means that the Sun, and consequently the shadows, are fixed. Most real-time reflections have also been removed.

There are more commitments in other areas. The number of cars has been reduced from 11 to 7 in the version of PlayStation VR. Climatic effects such as precipitation were also removed from the original Griveclub game. The resolution of the shadows also had to be reduced, not to mention that many of the elements that embellished the scenarios were withdrawn.

The video, recorded on one of the circuits in Japan, shows well the commitments that were made. In return, there is version of Driveclub game that is more immersive and that involves us more in the driving of the car, but the visual quality, one of the strongest points of Driveclub, has lost itself. Digital Foundry is now looking at the improvements made to Driveclub VR with the arrival of PlayStation 4 Pro, but first impressions are that the difference is not significant.
