After a long hiatus, Freeform’s “Switched at Birth” Season 5 will return to the small screens on January 31 of next year. As a treat to its fans who are eagerly waiting for the premiere, which unfortunately is the last for the series, a set of images have been released for the meantime.

The "Switched at Birth" Season 5 premiere is titled “The Call” and is said to pick up from when Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Bay (Vanessa Marano) are leaving China to go home Kansas. In one photo, they can be seen saying goodbye to their friends. In another, the two are shown getting a tattoo in the back of their necks as a souvenir for their stay in the foreign land. Another photo shows everyone happy at what appears to be Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lily’s (Rachel Shenton) wedding.

“Switched at Birth” Season 5 spoilers reveal that some surprises are waiting for Daphne and Bay when they get home. The Kennish-Basquez clan will be rocked by a scandal right after Toby and Lily finally get married. Daphne and her boyfriend Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) get their black classmates ire when the latter dresses up as Lil Wayne in an event in their school. Meanwhile, Regina (Constance Marie) gets herself a much younger man (Michael Galante).

It could be remembered that before “Switched at Birth” Season 5, Bay was able to pursue her dreams of becoming a tattoo artist while Daphne worked at a medical clinic in order to support herself while in China. With only each other to depend on, the two were able to live independently with a kind of freedom they did not have back home. But, just as they were finally getting established in the Asian country, they get calls from their parents to go home after being away for only 10 months.

The last time fans were able to watch an episode of the series was on October 26, 2015. Following the long break, “Switched at Birth” Season 5 will feature the show’s milestone 100th episode. The season will have a 90 minute season finale which also happens to conclude the whole series as well.
