LG News & Update: New LG Smartwatches This Coming 2017

Looks like four new LG smartwatches are coming soon. The Korean company has applied trademarks for a number of new monikers that definitely sounds regarding to new the smartwacthes.

There's the Watch Style, the Watch Pro, the Watch Force and the Watch Sole. We'd hazard a guess that, rather than four completely new models, LG will in fact unveil a brand-new smartwatch that will come in four different designs.

There's the Watch Style, the Watch Pro, the Watch Force and the Watch Sole. We'd hazard a guess that, rather than four completely new models, "LG Smartwatches" will in fact unveil a brand-new smartwatch that will come in four different designs.

The multi-design launch has been an ever-growing theme on the smartwatch scene. Michael Kors recently uncovered a duo of "Access Android Wear" devices - the "Bradshaw and the Dylan"; Samsung's latest smartwatch - the Gear S3 - comes in two models: the "Classic and the Frontier"; and Apple, of course, has several editions of its Series 2 smartwatch, with collaborations from the likes of Hermes, Toms and Nike.

LG was one of the original "Android Wear" members when it launched its imaginatively named LG Watch in early 2014. It followed that up with a duo of slick looking Google-powered smartwatches; the LG G Watch R and the LG Watch Urbane, and then there was the curious case of the cancelled, then reinstated, "LG Watch Urbane LTE" second edition - which was actually the first Android Wear device to offer cellular connectivity.

More likely is a CES 2017 launch in January or, failing that, a February bow at MWC 2017. The latter is probably more realistic given it's been a hotbed of smartwatch innovation in the last couple of years.

Whether LG decides to walk the Google path with another "Android Wear" smartwatch remains to be seen. Its big rival, Samsung; opted against Wear in favor of its own Tizen OS for its most recent smartwatches.
