Thanks to Apple Watch Nike+, sales of the wearable timepiece-fitness tracker improved compared to other Apple Watch models. Those who have been thinking of buying a smartwatch were finally convinced because of the latest release by the Cupertino-based tech giant.
Wareable contributor James Stables considers Apple Watch Nike+ a groundbreaking device. While he finds the strap a bit garish, Stables pointed out that one of the main benefits of the watch is the swiftness the wearer could swap out the straps and how cheaply it could be picked up.
Minimal Data Would Not Scare Newbie Runner
Apple Watch Nike+ was aimed at beginner runners by featuring distilled versions of what is available on Garmin or Polar running watch. Because the data is minimal, it does not scare the beginner runner. But Stables also hints as a running enthusiast, owners could outgrow their Apple Watch Nike+ fairly quickly.
Among the features he noticed missing are the heart rate zones, live pace and average pace differentiation and altimeter for elevation. For athletes used to running with a Garmin that is synced up to Strava, Apple Watch Nike+’s post-run analysis would feel a little light, Stables observed.
Nike Run Club App On iPhone
Although Apple Watch Nike+ offers minimal feedback after the run such as distance, pace, time and average heart rate, other vital information could be checked by using the iPhone’s Nike Run Club app. Besides containing post-run metrics, the app has built-in training plans, integration with Spotify, interval training mode and a lot of other features.
Meanwhile, CNET reports that based on Apple patents published on Thursday, the company which makes the Apple Watch Nike+ may come up with a circular display in future models of Apple Watch. Current Apple Watch and Apple Watch Series 2 models have rectangular displays similar to the iPhone. In contrast, rival wearable such as the Huawei Watch and Samsung Gear S3 have circular faces that make these timepieces look more like a traditional watch.
