Sony reveals more on PSP remote play feature, and the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4 controller light bar

Sony has been pretty active on a number of social networking sites – especially Twitter – since the first reveal of the upcoming next generation console PlayStation 4. Now with the release date of the console nearing slowly, it seems like the company executives are looking to reveal all they know about the technology.

Recently, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment took to Twitter where he revealed a number of interesting details about the upcoming next generation console.

We've known for a while now that Sony will be offering remote play feature for its titles on the PlayStation 4 that can be accessed from the hand-held PS Vita. However, if anyone is looking to achieve the same functionality with a PSP, they are in for some bad news.

Yoshida has confirmed that the company currently has no plans to release a new firmware update that will add that functionality to PSP. Sony always stated that the Vita has been designed in a way to support remote play – something that the PSP was not.

Yoshida also confirmed on Twitter that the company is aiming to launch the PlayStation App in North America before the launch of the next-gen console. The "PlayStation App” it will allow users to use their mobile device as a second screen for the console while also offering the option to access the PlayStation Store at the same time.

The new app will also allow users to connect with friends and get updates on their latest activities, and this includes new games that the user’s friends have bought or have marked as their favorite. As expected, the app will be integrated with a host of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Nico Nico, while offering access to game play broadcasts on Ustream.

Lastly and lately, there have been a few issues surrounding the fact that players will be unable to switch off the controller′s light bar, and if the light will reflect off of the screen during gameplay. To address this, Yoshida stated that “the led is angled down so it won't happen often.”

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is currently scheduled to release on Nov. 29, 2013 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand and Nov. 15 in North America.
