Unlocking the Alien Surgery in Surgeon Simulator

Ah, yes...Surgeon Simulator. Released to rave reviews on Steam earlier this year, the game was something of a runaway cult hit for its combination of humor, absurdity, and general ridiculousness of tasking players to perform notoriously difficult and/or far out surgeries with brutal controls. Ever wonder how Team Fortress's heavy kept coming back from battle unscathed? Surgeon Simulator answers that question.

But there was more to the game than just performing a heart transplant in zero gravity. Curious doctors began to look around the operating room to see what else they could interact with besides the body that was on the fast track to go from a patient to a corpse with the swift smack on the A,W,E, and R keys. Said doctors noticed they could grab and manipulate more than just surgical instruments, each with their own effect. Inserting the proper floppy disk into the computer drive would take players to the aforementioned operation in space, for example.

Slowly but surely, players began discovering that there was more to the game than just a doctor performing surgeries, and the latest update seems to be the culmination of many of the game's Easter eggs. Looking around the space station surgery, keen eyed players noticed a panel just beyond the patient. So, if the developers made it so players could knock over a framed certificate to spot a secret message, or pick up and dial their landlord, surely there was something to the panel, right?

It took a lot of detective work, but the code for the panel has been cracked by dedicated fans that make Sherlock Holmes look like...someone really dumb. Now, we've provided you with the means of how you can access each number, or, you could just go right to the panel and punch in the numbers for yourself. The choice is yours.

- The first digits are 29, and come from a clue on the back of your University of Barnarshire certificate. Look close, and you'll see a tiny drawing made up of 9 dots, which is actually a reference to our own solar system. The ? on the diagram indicates Saturn, the planet that's the third furthest from the Sun. I thought it would've been funnier if it was Uranus, but that's just me. Anywho, it takes 29 Earth years for Saturn to circle the Sun, which is where the first digits come from.

- The middle digits are 61, and in order to get these numbers, you have to call Trisha, which requires going through each of the six main surgeries, and find her number. Once dialed, you'll get a message from Trisha, that when scribbled on, reveals "61."

- The final digits are 45, which is the result of two truly bizarre methods. The first is when you pop in one of the VHS tapes into the VCR, which displays a message noting the last two digits, and the message "The ? is in your pocket." God only knows how they figured this one out, but this is actually referring to Rhodium pocket watch. For anyone up on the periodic table, you may know that Rhodium's atomic number is 45.
Someone also discovered that if you call your own number, you'll get a call from a woman, followed by a series of beeps. Allegedly, translating these beeps into binary similarly yields the number 45.

Now that that's all said and done, head up to space, punch in 296145, and you'll be promptly sent back to your office. Grab the new VHS with all the strange looking symbols on it, pop it into the VCR, and make note of the flashing numbers (4948). Now, best of luck figuring out what a gobbleshaft is, and where to put it. Feel free to consult this video for tips.
