Celebrate Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition with a loot hunt and $100k worth of prizes [TRAILER]

Great news for all the vault hunters of Borderlands 2. According to reports, Borderlands 2 publisher 2K and Gearbox Software have announced a brand new promotion where the companies are giving away prizes worth $100K via an in-game loot hunt.

Beginning Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. EST, fans will be treated to a slight alteration in the game with several of the game’s coolest weapons dropping in at unexpected places for fans to pick up. This will later be followed by Gearbox making daily announcements related to different community goals like using the day’s special weapon to kill enemies. But the best is yet to come – on participation of enough people in order to complete the goals, the company will unlock a "uniquely super-awesome gun" at the week's end.

“In the coming weeks, some of Pandora's craziest guns will start dropping in a bunch of unusual places,” the contest's official page states. “Imagine what it'd be like if Knuckle Dragger dropped Gwen's Head (except you won't really have to imagine, because that's literally the first thing that's going to happen once the fun starts)!”

“Once you get the special gun, then you get to be part of what we're calling Community Goals. Basically, a Community Goal involves killing a special type of enemy with that day's unique gun,” it further adds. “If you guys cumulatively kill enough enemies singled out in the daily Community Goals, then you'll unlock a Community Reward (read: uniquely super-awesome gun) at the week's end!”

According to Eurogamer, there will be “daily targets for 28 days until the loot hunt ends on 7th November at 5 a.m. ET. Complete all of them for a chance at the $50K grand prize. While the chances of receiving such a plentiful bounty are slim, all players who complete a daily challenge will receive a unique loot drop.”

Unfortunately, everything comes with a catch. All the cash and sponsored prizes are limited to U.S. players. Nonetheless, all the in-game prizes and special loot will be available for Borderlands 2 players across the globe.

“Those in the US will be eligible to win unique weekly rewards as well. In week one you can win a Vita; week two a Turtle Beach headset; week three an Nvidia Shield with a Falcon Northwest Tiki PC; and week four a BradyGames strategy guide and lifetime Steam Key for 2K Games. There will also be various cash prizes every week ranging from $5,000 - $20,000,” the Eurogamer report adds.

Borderlands 2 released back in September last year for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Check out the trailer below for more details.
