Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita

It's official. After rumors pointed to a Game of the Year edition of Injustice: Gods of the Year as fast approaching, it's since been confirmed that this is indeed true, just as an Ultimate Edition instead of a GOTY edition. But to quote 'ol Bill Shakespeare, what's in a name, especially if the contents are all the same?

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition will be hitting Sony's handheld PlayStation Vita on November 29, as well as the next-gen PlayStation 4 upon the console's launch this November. The Vita port is being handled by Armature Studios, who handled the Metal Gear Solid HD collection on Vita. You also might've heard the name more recently, as the company is also handeling the upcoming Batman game, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, for Nintendo's own handheld 2 and 3DS. The PS4 edition is in the hands of High Voltage. Other current generation systems getting the Ultimate Edition include the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

However, anyone looking for the game on Mcrosoft's upcoming Xbox One could be disappointed. When asked about the game's arrival on Microsoft's next-gen Xbox One via Twitter, NetherRealms studio head Ed Boon responded, "Um.... I wouldn't sell that 360 copy..." It's possible Boon is just having a bit of fun, but he still hasn't clarified if the Xbox One is indeed getting its own version, but it certainly doesn't look good. The same seems to go for the Wii U as well.

As expected, the Ultimate Edition offers all of the game's DLC that's released so far like skins and characters like: Batgirl, Lobo,Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, General Zod, and Mortal Kombat's own Scorpion, not to mention all those extra S.T.A.R. Lab missions. If you've already grabbed all the DLC, the only incentive for grabbing the Ultimate Edition would be a bonus soundtrack, which features an exclusive track from Jane's Addiction.

As they've never had access to the game before, Vita owners probably get the best deal. They'll get extra S.T.A.R. Labs Missions at no additional cost. It also gets touch controls for story mode, and traditional multiplayer over wi-fi.

"When developing Injustice on Vita, our primary goal was to make sure it could hold its own next to its console counterpart," says the announcement on the EU PlayStation blog. It goes on to say that the studio "pulled out all the stops to push the PS Vita as hard as we could" to make this version of the game faithful to the original.

Valued at over $120, gamers can grab the Ultimate Edition for $60 for the console versions, $50 for the PC, and $40 for the Vita version. In addition, the PS4 version will feature touchpad functionality, video sharing, and live streaming through the console itself.

The Ultimate Edition is set to be released on Nov. 12 in NA, and Nov. 29 in EU and other regions.
