'Bulletstorm' Release Date, News & Update: Remastered 'Full Clip Edition' Not A Free Upgrade?

Gearbox Software revealed the remastered version of "Bulletstorm" during this year's Game Awards. However, "Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition" is not a sequel to the original game and so the upgrade will not be discounted nor free.

Shortly after the said announcement, a post on Twitter by Gearbox Software founder and CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that those who already own "Bulletstorm" on the Windows platform can't upgrade "Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition" for free. Pitchford explained that it is unlikely for the game to have a free upgrade as it has a totally "different" game publisher, era, game system (the original game was solely for PC only) and more.

This is not the case however for "Darksiders: Warmastered Edition" which came out with a free upgrade. Gamespots reports that according to Pitchford, an Austria-based game publisher, THQ Nordic bought all the past and future rights of "Darksiders" which allowed it to release a free upgrade. Gearbox Software is only helping the game developers of "Bulletstorm" in releasing the remastered version.

"Bulletstorm," a first-person shooter game developed by Epic and People Can Fly, was initially released in February 2011. The game garnered satisfying reviews from critics who commend the game's humorous storyline and degree of character control. However, "Bulletstorm" later became a subject of controversy. This conceptualized the release of a remastered version to be published by Gearbox Software on April 7, 2017 for Windows, PlayStation 4, and XBox One.

Pcgamer says that the upgrade for "Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition" is not a real bargain which cost $50. However, Steam currently offers 15 percent off for those who plan to try the Overkill Campaign Mode and the six new levels for Echo Mode.

Additional improvements in the "Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition" is the increased resolution texture and improved frame rates. The remastered edition can support 4K resolutions on Windows and PlayStation 4 Pro. The upgrade also comes with extra content like a mode that will let players play Duke Nukem.
