PlayStation 4 Release: Home Depot to Sell Sony's New Console?

I have something of a love-hate relationship with Home Depot. I'm not much the most skilled do-it-yourselfer, but I like that I can go there and get more "grown up" toys like sledgehammers, axes, and other things to ready myself and my new household for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. But at the same time, as a new homeowner, ever increasing frequent visits (my record is three times in one day) to ensure the house is up to snuff have kept me from my precious video games on more weekends than I care to remember. So imagine my surprise when one site reported that the super supply store was going to have demo kiosks for Sony's next-gen console, the PlayStation 4.

It all started from a solitary thread over at Reddit (where else?) and one of its commenters who is either completely honest, or has a brilliant understanding of sarcasm, was sourced as saying the Home Depot was readying itself for supplying Sony's forthcoming console, and would even be hosting demo kiosks.

When asked about where the location of the photo in question, seen above, was taken, Ldominguez1986 (not the source of the photo, mind you) exclaimed, "I have a friend who is an employee at Home Depot and I confirm this! He said they will be setting them up in Lawn & Garden in the coming week."

Now, of course, anyone can say damn near anything on the Internet, and it's hard to prove him, her, or it incorrect, especially when you get into the third party business like my friend, cousin, roommate enters the mix.

No matter how much you could argue buying the PlayStation 4 does indeed qualify as "home improvement," it still seems pretty damn irregular that a video game console is something the retailer would stock. Calls to the company's Marketing and Advertising Department produced the sort of runaround and voice mailbox dead ends you'd expect from trying to get information from any massive corporation, so I've been unable to verify if this is actually legitimate.

While the mega supplier does indeed sell Sony equipment (security and surveillance cameras mostly), them selling PlayStation 4 is entirely unexpected. However, it seems as though the store did stock the PlayStation 3 several years ago, which increases the likelihood that maybe the store is indeed expanding into a brave new world.

I'll keep digging and will report back if Home Depot's higher ups ever decide to get back to me.
