The Android innovation battle among established players like Samsung and Apple has never been as great as it is today. But the arrival of new game players hailing from a completely different industry makes the game even more exciting. Kodak announced the arrival of Kodak Ektra via all out sale onDecember 9.
Former tech giants who were initially left behind when the world shifted to android phones are catching up. Blackberry is scheduled to drop the final Blackberry Android model before the year ends while Nokia is all set to hit the largest global operating system early next year. Kodak Ektra will also join the party in time for Christmas, DP Review reported.
The device which is described as "bizzare" is set to go on sale this coming Dec. 9 in Germany. Other markets are scheduled to follow at a later date. Its European price is pegged at about $540 and it can be purchased from Saturn, Media Markt, Amazon and Ringfoto. Kodak Ektra will be available via Telekom online on Jan.16.
Kodak claims that the unique-looking Kodak Ektra is heavily focused on the photography aspect without failing to balance all other Android established components. It features a 21 MP fast-focus PDAF camera, OIS, a f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. The unit's front camera also features PDAF and comes with 13 MP, f/2.2 aperture.
The Kodak Ektra is furnished with a full manual mode, a scene selection hardware dial along with a Super 8 VCR. The device's other specs include Android Marshmallow out of the box, a deca-core Helio X20 chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB ROM with expandable storage.
Kodak Ektra deploys a 3,000 mAh battery with USB Type-C and fast charging feature. It comes with a fancy retro-styled leather phone case which has the vibes of a camera bag.
Despite its strong features, it is undeniable that Kodak Ektra is about to face an incredibly capable list of competitors. Can Kodak through Kodak Ektra compete with the likes of Samsung and Google?
