'Ark: Survival Evolved' Latest News & Updates: PS4 Version Finally Released, All Players Get Double XP!

PC and Xbox One players have been really enjoying open-world dinosaur game "Ark: Survival Evolved," and PlayStation 4 players have been wondering when they can join in the fun. Good news: that day is today, as the sandbox sci-fi game is finally available for the PS4, and everyone gets to be part of the celebration.

GameSpot reports that "Ark: Survival Evolved" is now available on the PS4 as the "Survivor's Pack," which collects the base game and the "Scorched Earth" dragon expansion in a $55 bundle. Other than PS4-exclusive content such as the Bionic Gigantosaurus skin and the Manticore armor set for players, everyone on all platforms will be earning double experience, harvest yield, and taming as part of the PS4 "Evolution Event." The Evolution Event will be running until 12 pm on Monday, December 12, so make sure you get your game time in.

It turns out that the reason it took "Ark: Survival Evolved" this long to get to the PS4 is because Sony blocked it from release for still being in development. Developers Studio Wildcard hasn't made it a secret that the game is still unfinished, whether it's on PC, Xbox One, or PS4. They announced today that they will steadily be releasing patches and updates to fix bugs and presumably add more content to the game, until they can finally release a complete version sometime in the spring of 2017.

Even without a player base on the PlayStation 4, however, "Ark: Survival Evolved" has still managed to become a best-selling hit game. It has more than 5.5 million players between the PC and the Xbox One, and finally getting a PS4 release is only going to increase that number even more. What more if the game actually gets finished? Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more updates on "Ark: Survival Evolved"'s development.
