The much anticipated crossover episode of “Chicago Fire” Season 5 and “Chicago P.D.” will be happening next year. It is reported to focus on Severide (Taylor Kinney) and needing a new start in his life. As such, the storyline for the crossover episode will be set up in the fall finale of the former airing on Tuesday, December 6.
In the upcoming "Chicago Fire" Season 5 episode, Severide will be questioning what he is doing with his life. The sneak peek for the said episode show him confiding to Casey (Jesse Spencer) about failing to remember the name of the girl he just slept with the night before. Casey will be talking Severide into spending some bro time so he can recharge. He says the two of them need to disconnect with the world before returning to it again.
EP Derek Haas said in an interview how this conversation of Severide and Casey in the “Chicago Fire” Season 5 fall finale will pave the way for the big crossover episode . Haas explains that something will happen that will make Casey’s plan for a fishing trip not happen. What happens instead will lead into a crossover that will happen on P.D. with Severide and Mouch (Christian Stolte) instead of Casey.
What actually happens in the crossover remains to be seen yet, although it looks like in the “Chicago Fire” Season 5 end, it has some big plans for the development of Severide moving forward. In recent episodes, he seemed to be lost.
In the coming “Chicago Fire” Season 5 fall finale, Severide will receive an interesting proposition from a medical student who was a former firefighter named Jeff Clarke ( Jeff Hephner). The episode will also serve as the 100th episode milestone and is aptly titled “One Hundred”. It will air on Tuesday, December 6, on NBC.
