Google has rolled out Android 7.1.1, an update to its Android 7.0 Nougat OS packed with more emoticons and improved features to the satisfaction of Android fans.Avid users of Android smartphones are no less than excited about what's in store for them.

New Emojis

The latest Android Nougat patch highlighted the promotion of gender equality with dozens of emojis representing women alongside in various professions.The update also enables users to directly send GIFs from Google supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts without leaving the messaging app.

New Shortcut

The newest Android Nougat update also comes up with more app options and shortcuts without leaving the home screen. While the older version provided the sole option to relocate app icons at long press, this patch launches the sub-menu options on a press-and-hold at the app icon.

Google hosted smartphones such as Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over the air (OTA) software update starting Monday, Dec. 5.

Other users need to enroll at the Android Beta Program to receive the newest Nougat patch. The beta registration page can be accessed through Google account. Once you gained entry to the beta page on a mobile phone, over-the-air (OTA) updates will be pushed to your device within 24 hours.

Improved LTE Connectivity

Several users also reported that after taking the Android 7.1.1 update, their apparent LTE Band 4 connection problem was fixed, according to a report by Android Police.Although Google has not highlighted the improved connectivity issues brought about by the newest OS update, several recipient of the beta program notice improvement of the connectivity of their Pixel phones.
