Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB Latest News & Update: World Coolest Electric Bus Seen In China

China recently released the world's coolest electric bus. The Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB is a new electric bus seen at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

The Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB is rated as coolest bus in the world. This electric bus is shaped like an old tram car and has its factory designation GTQ612BEVB printed in a golden font on the front, rear and side, it has three windshield wipers, one for each three front windshield. It also has a big single LED lamp in the middle and people called it the Dang-Dang.

This electric bus, Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB, is marketed and developed as a normal city bus. Some unit examples of this bus are already in service in the city of Jinan and some are conducting trials in Tiananmen in Beijing.

Forbes reported that the electric bus is manufactured by Guangtong Electric Bus company, a subsidiary of Guangtong Automobile owned by a large green-energy company based in Zhuhai City, the Yintong Group. The "Dang-Dang" name comes from a Chinese character "Dang," which means the sound of metal.

In the report of PR Newswire, the market for electric buses in China is rapidly growing. In 2015, 10,000 fully electric buses where actually reported in China and expected to grow to 20,000 this 2016 and 2017. Yintong Company wants the Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB to be a part of this growing market and they hope to sell about 200 units in 2017.

The tram-theme Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB is covered in faux-wood panels, yellow curtains, old-fashioned dark red-colored faux-leather seats and a linoleum wood floor. The design is very impressive, everything insides are look like they were made of wood, except for the flat screen TV inside. This electric bus has only 69 km/h top speed, which is not bad for a vintage model.

As usual from old trams design, the Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB had an extra control panel in the back for maneuvering the carriage. However, this panel doesn't really work and just for fun purposes only.

The Guangtong Dang-Dang GTQ612BEVB price is depending on exact configuration. It starts on its lowest price, around $170,000 per unit.
