Call of Duty: Ghosts VS Battlefield 4: Social Media Has Ghosts Edging Out Battlefield 4

More Anticipation in Social Media for Call of Duty: Ghosts Over Battlefield 4

I'm honestly not sure who is more intense, the fanboys who shout from the rafters how Microsoft's Xbox One will dominate the PlayStation 4, or the gamers who squeal that Call of Duty will trump the new Battlefield, or vice versa. Right or wrong, whoever screams the loudest often ends up the winner, or at least looks like it, and social media has dubbed Call of Duty: Ghosts as the more anticipated shooter.

That was the conclusion reached by social media research firm Fizziology, which found that there's more positive chatter over Activision's shooter than EA DICE's.

GameZone was the first to note Fizziology's findings, reporting that according to the firm,"Call of Duty: Ghosts has seen 63,431 tweets this past week with '23% more relevant social mentions' than Battlefield 4 which saw 51,735 tweets."

Nice to know that no matter how inane, there's at least someone reading your tweets, right?

Of those tweets, according to Fizziology's breakdown, close to three quarters of Ghosts mentions were positive, compared to just under two thirds of Battlefield 4's positive mentions

Further cementing Fizziology's findings was a recent poll taken by VGChartz which revealed that the new Call of Duty had recently taken the top spot for most pre-ordered game on both of Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Battlefield 4 was #2 behind Ghosts for both platforms. Back in AugustBattlefield 4 had the top spot under PlayStation 4, followed by Ghosts. Interestingly, it was the reverse for the Xbox One.

Given as much, either shooter is no doubt going to wind up a hit for either company, but which one will take home the title in the end remains to be seen.

Call of Duty: Ghosts takes place in a near future following an attack from space (not aliens) that leaves Los Angeles virtually wiped out, and the US infrastructure devastated, Years later, the country is invaded by a new superpower calling itself the "Federation." What's left of America's special forces have come together to form the titular "Ghosts," and it's up to them to wage guerilla warfare against the Federation in order to protect what remains of the United States, and drive them out.

Battlefield 4 stars a new protagonist to the series, that of Sergeant Daniel Recker, a member of the elite Tombstone Squad. He and the squad learn that an Admiral is in the midst of planning a coup to overthrow the current Chinese regime, with Russia ready to back him up.

Battlefield 4 will be first out the door later this month for current generation systems, while Call of Duty: Ghosts won't arrive until November 5. Both games will be available as launch titles for the respective release of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
