Battlefield 4 News: ESL Announces Tournaments for 2013 and 2014
With a new generation of consoles comes a new generation of games, and a new generation of competitions. Ahead of the release for the next wave of shooters, the Electronic Sports League is already gearing up, announcing new tournaments for both professionals and amateurs for DICE's upcoming shooter, Battlefield 4.
As a press release detailed, "With more than €132,000 on the line, players will compete in both amateur and professional tournaments for a chance at glory and bragging rights on the battlefield. Over the course of a year they will battle it out in leagues using 'Domination' mode, in the hopes making it in front of thousands at offline events."
As you could probably tell by the glaring Euro mark, the competition is limited to gamers across the Atlantic, but I'm sure plans are in the works for another organization (if not more than a few) to launch their own tournaments stateside.
Battlefield 4 will be featured is four of the ESL leagues, including EMS One, Go4 Battlefield 4, A-Series, and Versus.
Said Ulrich Schulze, Turtle Entertainment's Managing Director for Pro Gaming, "We are looking forward to hosting great competitions for what we believe to be an amazing game. With all its eSports features, Battlefield 4 will make a lasting impression on the scene and give us many moments to remember."
Battlefield 4 stars a new protagonist to the series, that of Sergeant Daniel Recker, a member of the elite Tombstone Squad. He and the squad learn that an Admiral is in the midst of planning a coup to overthrow the current Chinese regime, with Russia ready to back him up.
You don't have to be an expert in foreign relations and politics to realize this would cause one hell of a domino effect that would see the whole planet embroiled in war.
Battlefield 4 is currently scheduled to release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on Oct. 29 in North America and Nov. 1 in Europe, with versions for PS4 and Xbox One arriving in Q4 2013.
