With the number of pokémon now well over 700, you'd think Nintendo and/or GameFreak wouldn't mind spilling the beans on as many of the little buggers as they could, but it seems that everyone has secrets to keep.
It appears as though a fan has delved headfirst into the Pokémon X and Y's code, and discovered three new pokémon that have yet to be announced by either Nintendo or GameFreak, and not just regular old pokémon either, we're talking legendaries.
The fan, who goes by the handle "Smealum," and is trusted by Kotaku, has laid his virtual anthropological claim on Diancie (for which a pokédex entry has been found), Volcanion, and Hoopa. This is the same person who uncovered the mega evolutions for the dragon-type pokémon Latio and Latias.
There's been no comment on the three new pokémon, which is leading fans to speculate that if they are indeed legitimate, then they are "event" pokémon, pokémon that are only available during specific events. The only question is which? Nintendo or GameFreak haven't yet announced anything on the calendar.
There's no exact entry on the pokemon wikia, save for the fact that Diancie is actually an evolved form of Carbink, and was introduced in this generation of pokemon, like Hoopa, who's listed as a psychic / ghost-type. However, there's no full entry for either pokémon, or Volcanion for that matter.
We'll follow up if there's any official word from Nintendo or GameFreak on the matter.
Pokémon X and Y released last month to rave reviews as well as great sales numbers. As a matter of fact, Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda's recently revealed that since launch, over ten million of the little monsters have been exchanged since the game launched. It's also reported by Nintendo Life that Masuda expressed interest in making more Mega Evolutions.
The games represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.
No DLC is planned for the games.
