Apparently, Samsung's Note 7 is not the only exploding smartphone in the market, Apple's iPhone 6 too. Users from China claimed that their iPhones are not just shutting down unexpectedly but also allegedly exploding.
As of December 2, there have been eight reportedly iPhones which exploded from September 1 to November 30 according to the notice released on the website of Shanghai Consumer Council (SHCC). The consumer watchdog group emphasized two specific cases involving the iPhone 6 and 6s Plus according to a report.
First is the statement of an iPhone user Mr. Zhang who bought an iPhone 6 last November 14 and claimed that his mobile phone started smoking and suddenly flamed up in standby mode just this September 30. Another case is from Ms. Chen in which she claimed that her iPhone 6s Plus bought last March 2015 experienced the same as it self-combusted on August 31 of this year. The explosion cracked her handset's screen and turned its battery into black. According to her, Apple replaced her iPhone with a new one without giving any detailed explanation.

Apple said that the reported "thermal events" are now subject to company investigation. It also emphasized that the safety of its consumers is its top priority and found no cause concerning iPhone products. Apple continued saying, "The units we've analyzed so far have clearly shown that external physical damage happened to them which led to the thermal event."
Two weeks ago, Apple has offered for battery replacement to that iPhone 6s which experienced unexpected shutdown and those handsets made between September and October 2015. Although Apple stressed that it was not related to safety issues.
Given this issue, Apple's profit in China declined by 30 percent as of September 24 according to a report. Will Apple face the same consequence encountered by Samsung? Stay tuned for more updates.
