‘Dark Souls 3’ DLC Release Date, News & Update: Second DLC Marks End Of Franchise; Better Boss Fights, Armors & Weapons Expected

It's been a while since "Dark Souls 3" DLC: Ashes of Ariandel launched, and fans are getting antsy about the release of the second expansion. However, reports are suggesting that the upcoming expansion to the Bandai Namco software might possibly be the last of the franchise.

What will become of the "Dark Souls" series, and when will the second DLC drop? Here's everything you need to know about the "Dark Souls 3" DLC: release dates, features, spoilers, updates and more.

Second 'Dark Souls 3 DLC' to release soon

It's been previously announced by Bandai Namco and From Software, the studios that brought the "Dark Souls" franchise to the fore, that there will be two DLCs available for its third installment. The first one was "Dark Souls 3" DLC: Ashes of Ariandel, which was critically acclaimed by several critics for its incredible boss fights and options for exploration.

Given Ashes of Ariandel's success, fans are expecting new maps and armors to arrive alongside the second "Dark Souls 3" DLC, which is slated to arrive soon. It's also expected to shake things up a bit by improving the final boss fights to make for a more satisfying gameplay experience.

Last of the franchise

However, once the second "Dark Souls 3" DLC drops, it might be the beginning of the end for the franchise. According to a report from Polygon, From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki did not hesitate to answer no when asked if the two DLC packs will mark the end for the "Dark Souls" franchise.

He explained that while the studio does not completely deny the possibility of reviving the franchise in the future, it's definitely time to retire it now in the present as the companies would want to work for new installments and softwares. It's also possible that the studio would be recreating a "Dark Souls"-like franchise in the future for the sake of its avid fanbase. Stay tuned for more "Dark Souls 3" DLC news and updates.
