A few days ago, a leak surfaced indicating that the Blizzard multiplayer first-person shooter video game "Overwatch" will have a holiday event. The rumors have now been confirmed by Blizzard themselves, which took to Twitter to share the news.

Now that Blizzard confirms the holiday event launching December 13, "Overwatch" fans can look forward to some holiday-related items for the game. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the tweet included a GIF inviting fans to join them on the indicated date, but did not offer additional details on the holiday event launching December 13.

The invitation to the "Overwatch" holiday event launching December 13 also included a note to retweet to RSVP to the highly anticipated event. So far, over 50,000 fans have retweeted the invitation. As of right now, Blizzard hasn't disclosed further details on the holiday event, but this isn't a first for the studio.

Back in October, "Overwatch" held a Halloween event that launched on October 11 and ran until November 1. If this is any indication, the holiday event launching December 13 may as well run until the New Year.

Late last month, Gamespot reported that some "Overwatch" fans dug through the game's files to find a Christmas-themed jingle. The leak implied that there is an upcoming holiday-themed event. Now that Blizzard confirms holiday event launching December 13, fans can begin speculating what holiday-themed items would be available for "Overwatch."

In other recent "Overwatch" news, Blizzard has canceled the graphic novel based on the game. Titled "Overwatch: First Strike," it was supposed to tell the stories of how "Overwatch" was founded following the Omnic Crisis. Unfortunately, Blizzard's Michael Chu and his team decided to take the story in "a different direction" and thus the graphic novel was cancelled. In the meantime, fans should look forward to the "Overwatch" holiday event launching December 13.
