‘Doom’ Latest News & Update: Developer Released New Patch 5 Introduces New Features; Denuvo Anti-Piracy Technology Removed?

ID Software has released its latest free update available for "Doom" that covers a lot of multiplayer features and SnapMap add-ons. But, apparently that is not only the update, id software has removed Denuvo from the game.

Denuvo is an anti-piracy technology and digital rights management (DRM) scheme that is mostly used in video games. The Denuvo anti-piracy technology was developed by an Australian company Denuvo Software Solutions GmBH. Most of the video games like "Doom" has this technology.

The Denuvo anti-piracy technology is said to continuously encrypt and decrypts the software, like with "Doom," so it will be impossible to crack. However, the company did not reveal anything as to how its technology really works for its security and performance.

Apparently, Kotaku reported, the Denuvo anti-piracy technology has been removed from the game "Inside" on its Steam version. However, the developer did not provide any information as to why Denuvo was removed from the game. It was also the recent action of id Software with its game "Doom." But, as to the surprise of many id Software also did not comment on what's the reason behind its decision.

According to Torrent Freak, the recent update in PC version of "Doom" removed the anti-piracy technology of Denuvo. Since, there is no confirmation about Denuvo's removal, rumors suggest that it could be the controversy that Denuvo protection is facing.

The controversy involves Denuvo anti-piracy technology which is being cracked by the CPY group. Denuvo's CEO and marketing director once said that what's important is to maintain their perspective and to understand there is no technology even the anti-piracy that is flawless. With this, it could be the reason why id Software has decided to remove the Denuvo technology from "Doom" as it becomes pointless if it can still be cracked by any group.

Meanwhile, "Doom" was recently cracked by CPY but it was only the Demo. There is a rumor that id Software was offered by Denuvo a money back guarantee if the game was cracked within three months. If that is really the case, it would be a negative impact to the Denuvo technology reputation which will lead to more removal of it from any games.
