‘Destiny 2’ Release Date, News & Update: ‘Guitar Hero’ & ‘Skylanders’ Studio Vicarious Visions To Work On Bungie’s Universe

Vicarious Visions announced a collab work with Bungie and Activision to expand the 'Halo' creator's Destiny franchise, which could possibly pertain to "Destiny 2." Best known for "Guitar Hero" and "Skylanders," Vicarious Visions is also hard at work with "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy," a recreation of PSX's "Crash" games to be released on PS4 in 2017.

"Vicarious Visions is excited to announce that we are partnering with Bungie to further expand the Award-Winning 'Destiny Universe," the New York-based developer announced via Facebook. The team is likely brought on to help with the development of "Destiny 2," which is expected to release Q4 2017.

"Destiny 2" Speculations Continue To Make Its Rounds

What makes this news interesting is that it adds fuel to the fire on "Destiny 2" rumors. According to Video Gamer, a sequel to "Destiny" is releasing in 2017, which was confirmed by Activision itself. Details on the sequence are scarce, but Activision's Eric Hirshberg had apparently referred to the sequel as "Destiny 2" during an investor call.

Vicarious Visions joins High Moon in developing content for "Destiny." Activision and Bungie outsourced High Moon, whose developers pitched in on "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," into the "Destiny Universe" in 2015. Vicarious Visions' contribution remains to be seen, but it has likely to do with "Destiny 2," expected to launch possibly on PC in addition to PS4 and Xbox One.

Let The Official Waiting Game For "Destiny 2" Commence

"We're on track for what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017. That sequel is designed to both excite our highly engaged current players but also to broaden the appeal," said Hirshberg in November. Activision is still yet to reveal concrete details on Vicarious Vision's role on "Destiny," and whether the studio will indeed be working on "Destiny 2." Updates will be posted soon as Activision makes an announcement.
