‘Coco’ Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: What You Need To Know About Pixa's Upcoming Animated Film

"Coco" the first original animated film of Pixar has been under test for about six years now. Details about the film were entirely kept secret until Disney recently decided to reveal a little bit more.

Pixar's original animated film "Coco" is about the Mexican holiday call Día de los Muertos, which translates into "Day of the Dead". The film was initially scheduled for release on Nov. 22, 2017. Independent reported that new movie details are known to date.

Pixar's "Coco" will be under the direction of Lee Unkrich who has been directing Pixar movies ever since the iconic "Toy Story" movie series. As proof of his directing prowess, Unkrich received a co-directing credit on the success of "Toy Story 2", "Monsters, Inc." and "Finding Nemo."

Unkrich's first shot as a sole director was with "Toy Story 3." Before the release of the animated film, Pixar's signature series was considered to be a great risk since no one was sure of how fans will respond to "Toy Story 3." But the success that the film achieved even up until today has proved Unkrich's talent. The director was tasked to work on "Coco" since then.

With the scheduled release of "Cars 3" on June 16, 2017 and "Incredibles 2" and "Toy Story 4,", "Coco" will be the only Pixar movie that is not a sequel. Reports claim that Pixar is also planning to release two more original films that remain untitled to date.

Pixar's "Coco" will focus on the story of a boy named Miguel Rivera who lives in a Mexican Village. The boy dreams of becoming a musician. But Miguel's family, believing that they are cursed by it, has promised to ban music forever.

According to CS Monitor, little Miguel will end up entering the land of the dead to search for the famous singer who inspired him. The boy will seek the help of a trickster skeletal spirit named Hector.
