Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Releases On Xbox 360 and Xbox One in February

EA Has Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Arriving on Xbox This February

Dead Rising 3 isn't the only game that will let you destroy zombies on the Xbox One. Today, EA revealed that the multiplayer only Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is slated to hit the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on February 18 of next year.

"Prepare your peashooters!" said a press release. "PopCap Games, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will be shipping for Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system on February 18, 2014 in North America, February 20, 2014 in Europe and February 21 in the UK."

Garden Warfare is a change-up from the series' traditional tower defense genre. Instead, it's a third-person multiplayer shooter that has players take command of the franchise's popular characters.

"Gamers across the world have fallen in love with the Plants vs. Zombiescharacters and now they'll get to see them in an entirely new light," said Brian Lindley, Producer on Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare give the series' fans and shooter players a fun, new experience that they'll both enjoy as they blast, chomp and laugh their way through co-op and head-to-head online action."

Returning plants like the classic peashooter, sunflower, bonk choy, and wall-nut will be a part of players' arsenal, as well as a few new ones like the Garlic Drone. The game has over 10 maps and three modes allowing for up to 24 players to take part in, "including two 12v12 competitive multiplayer modes called Garden & Graveyards and Team Vanquish, and a four-player co-operative mode calledGarden Ops. In Garden & Graveyards, plants must defend their garden bases from zombies attempting to turn them into spooky graveyards. Players can also square off in Team Vanquish as they try to send the other team to the compost pile. For gamers that just want to have a fun time with their friends, they can work together in Garden Ops battling off waves of zombies on the attack," described the release.

Gamers who go next-gen with the Xbox One get two extra modes, including local co-op split screen and Boss Mode. Split-screen is self explanatory where two players team up to take out an endless amount of zombies, but in Boss Mode, gamers can use their Kinect or SmartGlass in other gameplay modes to support their teams. SmartGlass give players have a top-down view of the battlefield, and lets them help out in the battle by giving intel, dropping health, revive stations, or dropping explosive ordinance.

The game's available for pre-order at retailers and online at EA's Origin service.
