The Augmented Realty Smart Cycling Glasses Is Already Here

Augmented Reality (AR) is the newest technology that made noise this 2016, from mobile phones to TV and now to sunglasses. Good news for cycling enthusiasts as there's already a new technology that will provide real-time data on a clear vision of a rider's line of sight.

On Wednesday, the Israeli defense company Elbeit Systems Ltd. announced its newest augmented reality smart glasses designed for triathletes and cyclists. The Raptor smart glass is already in its final phase and the Test Pilot Program has already launched open for its registrants. This technology will provide its users competitive advantage to improve its training, its race day performance, and safely enhance their fitness and health.

Asaf Ashkenazi, Everysight's CEO, said that Raptors provide its users the true augmented reality experience by displaying its fitness and health data without blocking the user's eyesight, unlike the other current smartglasses which have obstruction to the rider's line of sight.

The Raptor has the ability to display important health data such as speed, heart rate, navigation, and other vital information without blocking the view. This can even record every rider's performance just like that of dashboard cameras.

The smart glasses works via Bluetooth connection linked to an app. It will also be available on both Android and iOS as promised. In addition, Raptors will also have a side interface where users can easily access its control using swiping gestures without needing to take a full stop.

Everysight has not yet released any date for its public release according to Engadget. But you might get a chance to have early Raptors. Qualifications are you should at least ride 12 times a month and use fitness apparatus like heart rate monitors of bike computers. Deadline for application is until December 23 though there will be an extended program next 2017 for those who won't make it this year.
