Quantum Break TV Episodes Included on Game Disc, Player Decisions Will Effect Show's Outcomes

Quantum Break Game Disc to Arrive With TV Episodes and Will Let Players Alter Them Based on In-Game Choices

Microsoft Studios and Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming action title Quantum Break is back in news with more new details stating that episodes of the corresponding TV show will be included in the game disc itself, with players having the opportunity to alter outcomes with the choices they make in-game.

Quantum Break writer and creative director Sam Lake was recently in a video interview with Polygon where it he confirmed the information.

“Acts of the game are interwoven with episodes of the show. What we have as connecting tissue are these moments of choice related to the fiction of time powers,” Lake stated. “Our bad guy in the game has the most powerful time powers of all, and he has this junction ability where he’s able to see glimpses of different futures, different timelines. It’s almost like a dynamic player-created cliffhanger at the end of each act.”

“You get to explore these glimpses and visions of two different futures, and you make a choice as to which comes to be. And from that we shift into an episode of the show. From the first scene you’ll get alternate content depending on the choice you’ve made,” he added.

So this means that the episodes you see for Quantum Break on TV at a later date will actually be influenced by the choices you previously made in the game. Sound exciting? Sure does. How exactly that will work will be explained at a later date.

Quantum Break, revealed during the Xbox One reveal event back in May, is set in a fictional North Eastern U.S. Riverport University and kicks off with a time travel experiment gone wrong, giving the three main characters, Jack Joyce, Beth Wilder, and Paul Serene, the ability to manipulate time that they can use to see into the future and alter the present accordingly.

It has also reported by Kotaku that among all the three characters, Paul Serene has the best time-manipulating powers with which he can see glimpses into future timelines and choose which to follow.

Game Informer also reports that the game contains different “junction points” where players can switch over from the heroes and play the game from the perspective of Paul Serene, the so-called villain as tagged by Lake.

As of now, a specific release date for Quantum Break is still pending, although it's expected that the game will be out by late 2014 exclusively for Xbox One.
