Xbox One VS PS4: Specs, Tech, Price - PlayStation 4 is a ‘bit more complicated’ than Xbox One Says CD Projekt RED

CD Projekt RED says PlayStation 4 is a ‘bit more complicated’ than Xbox One

The next generation of gaming, apart from impressive visuals and evolved on-screen rendering, has also been lauded for the ease of development by several companies. The recent one to join the list is The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt RED stating that developing titles on the PS4 is a “bit more complicated” than doing same on Xbox One.

CD Projekt RED's Lead Engine Programmer Balázs Török was recently in an interview with Eurogamer, where Török discussed the upcoming game and how it has been easy to develop for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“The Xbox One is pretty easy to understand because not just the hardware is similar to the PC, but everything like the SDK, the API is really similar to what you would find on a PC," said Török. "On PS4 this is a little bit more complicated, but I personally worked on PS3 before.”

“For PS3 it was very important to have a community, to share the information in some ways, but for now it's much easier and everyone will use their PC knowledge and possible previous console knowledge to reach the limit," he added.

He added that while he feels the PS4 is better with its fast memory and although everyone is excited about that, the basic problem that remains is that the “game has to function on everything.”

"No we are not holding it back. It's just we are not at the stage right now to go in and optimise on each platform specifically. We want to make the game and the whole engine run on everything, with all the features and bells and whistles, and then just optimize, optimize, optimize.”

"I don't see a major power difference. The memory is very different but I already said that before. Pure computation power, if you just measure that, there's no major difference," he added.

CD Projekt RED is currently working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which is supposed to arrive next year. The last time the game was in the news was when it was revealed that the game wouldn't contain DRM.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set for an arrival in the spring of 2014, is said to have a setting which is more than "30 times larger" than previous Witcher games.
