‘Arrow' Season 5 Airdate, Spoilers: Felicity Turns Evil, Haunts Prometheus

Felicity is a changed person when "Arrow" Season 5 returns from its winter finale. Series creator Wendy Mericle teased that Felicity will go on a dark path, following the death of her boyfriend Detective Billy Malone. She will haunt Prometheus.

The midseason finale of "Arrow" Season 5 saw Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) kill Felicity's new boyfriend Billy Malone (Tyler Ritter). Of course, Oliver had no idea it was Billy behind the mask. All the while, he thought he had been targeting Prometheus.

However, Oliver saw Billy instead. The loss will greatly affect Felicity, in a way that she takes it upon herself to avenge Billy's death. Showrunner Wendy Mericle teased the dark path that Felicity travels in the midseason premiere of "Arrow" Season 5, all for the sake of revenge.

Fans may not see the usual bubbly, positive and energetic Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) when "Arrow" Season 5 returns for its midseason premiere on Jan. 25. Instead, this Felicity is fueled by rage and determination to haunt Prometheus. She has her sights on killing the villain.

"This season we have said we're going to take her to a darker place, and you're seeing the genesis of the reason why, right here," Mericle told TV Line.

Mericle added that some people will help Felicity accomplish her mission to haunt down Prometheus. However, these people will eventually also lead her astray. The showrunner teased that fans may see Felicity draw away from her team in the midseason episodes of "Arrow" Season 5.

Likewise, Mericle teased that when "Arrow" Season 5 returns, fans will see the dark side of Felicity. Her quest to avenge Billy's death will lead her to do some "pretty morally questionable" things. Seeing Felicity turn dark and evil may seem depressing, but Mericle assured that it would be exciting to watch too.
