United States champion Roman Reigns is set to challenge Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship at Roadblock: End of the Line. Many are worried that Reigns will get pushed once again but it seems like Owens is going to retain his title at the pay-per-view.
The WWE demoted Reigns to the upper midcard after failing a Wellness Policy test back in June. His push was halted but he quickly got back to the main event scene. He won the U.S. title from Rusev with ease and immediately challenged KO for the Universal championship.
The Big Dog still gets booed by half of the arena which shows he has not gotten over with the majority of the crowd. There were reports late last month noting that Reigns will win the Universal title at Roadblock: End of the Line.
However, that rumor was killed by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t The Inquisitr). He noted that Roman Reigns is going into a new feud for the United States championship next year.
Meltzer pointed out that Reigns will face Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 33. The match is expected to be for the U.S. title. The story is going to be Strowman taking The Big Show down in January before moving to a program with The Guy.
On the other hand, Kevin Owens is rumored to face the returning Finn Balor at WrestleMania 33. However, it all depends on the health of Balor, who is still rehabbing his surgically-repaired shoulder at the WWE Performance Center.
If The Demon King is not healthy enough before WrestleMania 33, the WWE can always put Chris Jericho in that position. The friendship of Owens and Jericho has taken a hit and a breakup is on the way.
Nevertheless, KO has made his feud with Reigns very entertaining in and out of the ring. He recently roasted Reigns and his fans on Twitter, per FOX Sports. He called out his opponent before calling Reigns' fans as idiotic.
