Earlier reports announcing that "Battlefield 1" is scheduled to release a fresh complimentary map called Giant's Shadow. This will be available to all of its players starting Dec. 13 onwards, which also comes with the Grenade Crossbow.
VG247 reports that for "Battlefield 1"players who have preordered the game and those who already have the Premium Pass, they will be able to have the Grenade Crossbow-boasting map on Dec. 13. Others will be able to get their hands on the new arena on Dec. 20.
According to PC Gamer, from the name itself, "Battlefield 1" map Grenade Crossbow is exactly a crossbow that quietly fires two grenades of either the High Explosive or Fragmentation variety, which is based on only one of its kind apparatus from the Great War, according to EA. The apparatus could be the Sauterelle, which is a French bomb-thrower that was used during World War I although it wasn't an effective weapon and it weighed over 50 pounds that needed at least two people to operate.
The map Giant's Shadow is set in the Battle of the Selle's Hundred Day Offensive and the giant in the map is an enormous crashed airship. "British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are heading towards a strategic railway center. The outcome is uncertain. An armored train can still turn the tide," reads the description of the new map in the "Battlefield 1" site.
Developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts, "Battlefield 1" is a first-person shooter video game set in the period of World War I. Historical events are the game's inspiration, which puts emphasis to teamwork.
"Battlefield 1" is the 15th installment in the Battlefield series released on Oct. 21, 2016 for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4. It has earned positive reviews especially on its World War I theme, visuals, multiplayer modes, single-player campaign and sound design.
