Thief for PC will look better than its PS4 and Xbox One versions

Thief for PC will have superior advantages compared to next generation versions

Eidos Montreal has had success of late with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Tomb Raider. However, the company aims to start fresh in the upcoming year with the new Thief, and according to the company, the PC version of the game will look better than its next generation counterparts.

Speaking recently to DSOGamingThief's Art Technical Director Jean-Normand Bucci talked about the new game and how it will offer optimal visual levels for players on PC.

On asked about the kind of advantages the next generation version of the game will offer and if those versions will be able to rival the game running on a high-end PC, Bucci stated: “The new consoles are very strong, very powerful.”

“They allow for much more than what a console gamer is used to. The gap between PC and next gen has massively reduced for sure. The new consoles and high-end PC offer better frame rate, higher resolution, and many new features along with DX11 support.”

But in the end, the advantage goes to PC. Bucci added that not only will the PC version of the game will arrive with all graphical updates that are set to be included in the next ten versions of the game, but it will also have additional improvements that even the newest console technology cannot compete with.

“The PC version will support all the graphical features of the next-gen consoles with numerous improvements, including even better anti-aliasing, higher resolution shadows and support for multi-monitor. Thief on PC will also be amongst the first batch of games that support AMD’s new Mantle API for high performance graphics.”

“A FOV slider and mouse sensitivity options will be included in the game. We don’t apply acceleration or smoothing to our mouse based camera controls – we want you to have direct control of Garrett’s POV,” he added.

Thief takes place in a steampunk metropolis which is also inspired by Victorian philosophies. Garrett has been away from his hometown for a long time, and upon returning, finds out that the city is now being ruled over by a tyrant called 'The Baron'. While "The City" is infested by a plague, the rich continue to live in good fortune, and Garrett intends to exploit the situation at his favor.

Thief is currently scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 3, and Xbox One & Xbox 360 in 2014.
