The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Couldn't Look Better With Stunning New Footage and Viking Music [VIDEO]

Just When You Thought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Couldn't Look Better - Stunning New Footage and Viking Music

A new trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was just released at this year's VGX. As if previous trailers haven't sold us already, this new video is comprised solely of in-game footage and gives us glimpses of jaw-dropping vistas, terrifying monster battles, and what appears to be a bar fight.

Few games are as anticipated as this one. The Witcher 3 will continue Geralt of Rivia's story as the famous Witcher (basically a mercenary that deals in killing monsters) as he quests around the world, weary from a life of fighting but not ready to give it up yet. As with the second title it will feature a rich backstory but also is designed to be completely accessible to new players. Developer CD Projekt RED has always listened to its fans- just check out the improved Enhanced versions of previous Witcher games that have been released - and they want your input.

"The Witcher 3 is constantly growing and we're very excited each time we show something new to gamers," says Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. "The VGX Gameplay Trailer shows some really great stuff that you'll find in the game and we're very eager to hear what people think about it, so please leave a comment after you watch it - we're always listening to what you have to say."

They've also announced that the music, already a highlight of previous games, will be improved with their new music direction. It will now feature traditional slavic instruments and songs "to convey the brutality and violence of the world", and to do that right they're going to bands like "Percival" who use historical instruments and songs in their music. Check here for a track from Percival- the video may be goofy but this is is some true Viking music and really gets you in the mood to lop off a few heads.

Looks great, sounds great, what else do you need? Well, The Witcher 2 was a fantastic game but it can be a bit linear. CD Projekt RED has promised that you'll be allowed to explore this game at your whim. The massive open world is said to be 30 times larger than the last game, bigger even than the one seen in Skyrim, according to the developers. You can ride horseback across the world from forests to cities, catch a sailboat to islands, or just fast travel around as you explore and hunt down monsters. One thing the game won't feature, though? Loading screens. Utterly amazing.

Honestly, does anyone else think this is the first next-gen game that really looks like one? The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will hit XBox One, PS4 and PC in 2014. Prepare for it by playing the first two installments of this incredible series, and check out the new trailer below!
