'Overwatch' Latest News & Updates: Winter Wonderland Holiday Event Is Now Live Including New Game Mode and Christmas Skins, More Details Here!

"Overwatch" holiday event, the Winter Wonderland is now live with wintertime loot boxes packed with new victory poses, character skins, emotes, highlight intros and more cosmetic stuffs. It also includes new mode as well as Christmas skins available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The Express reports that the "Overwatch" Winter Wonderland event begins Dec. 13 until Jan. 2, 2017. Players can earn over 100 new cosmetic trimmings through unlocking the wrapped Winter Loot Boxes, which replaced the in-game Loot Boxes.

Like the previous "Overwatch" events, the Winter Loot Boxes can also be purchased apart from earning it and there is at least one item in each box from the game's 2016 Winter Wonderland collection like sprays, profile icons and more. The contents of the boxes are random and each player who can unlock an item can have it for free.

The items in the limited-item loot boxes can also be unlocked in the Hero Gallery throughout the duration of the "Overwatch" Winter Wonderland event. Blizzard Entertainment suggested that players should ensure to stir up their most preferred gaming machine and enjoy the "Overwatch" Winter Wonderland event while it's still going on.

According to Polygon, the new skins and costumes in the "Overwatch" Winter Wonderland event are for McCree, Mei, Lucio, Reaper, Pharah, Sombra, Roadhog, Tracer, Torbjorn, Zenyatta and Winston. Additionally, the two existing "Overwatch" maps such as King's Row and Hanamura also have wintry versions.

Moreover, the "Overwatch" new game mode is called Mei's Snowball Offensive and a 6v6, single elimination match-up where players attack each other by firing snowballs. Eliminating an opponent only takes one hit but missing a shot will give enemies an advantage while players look for a closest snow pile to reload.

Upon the game's progress during a battle, Mei's Ultimate can be activated turning her blaster into a semi-automatic snowball launcher. As for patch 2.01 for "Overwatch," it has added a new Boop which can be unlocked for Sombra's voice line. Click here to see the full patch notes.
