Grand Theft Auto 5 Rumors: Potential for Xbox One and PS4 Ports, Amazon Talks PC Release

Rockstar's Lazlow Talks Projects and GTA V Ports for Xbox One and PS4, and a Potential PC Release

Hope you brought your salt lick, because you're gonna need a few grains for this round-up of rumors for Grand Theft Auto V.

When the initial GTA V rumors first started circling, it was at about the same time that all the rumors were swirling about Sony and Microsoft's next-gen systems. It was early enough that we didn't even know the name of the consoles yet, nor did we know if they would ever feature the next GTA game. Now that the game is finally out, Rockstar's own Lazlow, who has been working as a writer, producer, and voice actor for the series since Grand Theft Auto III , is kinda sorta hinting it might happen after all.The former Chatterbox host is a frequent guest of fellow radio talk show Opie & Anthony. Even if you've never heard the show, you've heard O&A talent while walking the streets of Los Santos and Liberty City. Host Anthony Cumia provided voices in both Vice City and Liberty City Stories, did the "Pissweiser" commercials in GTA IV and GTA V, as well as the gun clerk in Red Dead Redemption. Third mic, comedian Jim Norton, also did voices for Bully and GTA IV as well, as did other O&A staffers.

During a recent appearance on the show, a caller asked Lazlow about the possibility of GTA V winding up on the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Thanks to TalkingAboutGames, this is what he had to say.

Much like Rockstar is known for, it wasn't exactly a confirmation, nor was it a denial. Still,

As for bringing the game over to PC? Here's where things get even sketchier. DSOgaming is reporting a leak from Amazon stating that the game will be formally announced tomorrow, December 24, and released on March 12.

The information came to light via a screencap, spotted by Reddit, of a simple chat no less. It's doubtful that it's authentic, as "Fatima," cites Amazon's "source," and the information was provided pretty damn quick. You can see a translation of the conversation below:

"Welcome to Amazon Chat. My name is Fatima [...]. According to our informations, GTA V PC will be announced on 12/24 and according to our source, it will be released in the USA on 03/12 and here on 03/14."

While Amazon has leaked release dates before, the company has been wrong before with specific regard to GTA V on PC. Add in that Rockstar has yet to confirm the information, try not to get your hopes up.

It's widely accepted that the game will eventually make its way over to PC, and there's certainly an audience for it. A petition for a PC release has received over 650,000 signatures. Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser has said that Rockstar can can do what they want "wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market." This petition is indicative of such a market.

As for releasing the game on the Xbox One and PS4, the last official word from Rockstar on the matter was the following: "Rockstar is a content company, not a hardware company. We use the technology we have to create content, and we try not to let ourselves get beholden to the hardware. The fact that hardware's so mature right now is exactly why we're able to go on to the next level."

We'll keep you posted if Rockstar ever confirms Amazon's supposed announcement date tomorrow.
