'Fruit Ninja' VR Release Date, News & Update: Anticipation For Game Boosts HTC Vive Sales? More Features & Gameplay Details

After conquering the iOS and Android platforms, "Fruit Ninja" has set its sights on a new target to dominate: virtual reality. Its VR version, aptly titled Fruit Ninja VR is now available on Steam Early Access platform.

According to the Verge, this would mean that its current development form will be available for the HTC Vive which is one of the most awarded gadgets in the CES 2016. With the Taiwanese manufacturer's premiere virtual reality headset, "Fruit Ninja" VR players can fight with two handheld swords on any of the three available modes.

Rumors of a virtual reality version of "Fruit Ninja" being developed were first reported in June with Halfbrick Studios leading its development. According to Android Authority, Australian developer Halfbrick Studios hopes to create versions of "Fruit Ninja" VR compatible for the major gadgets like Playstation VR and Google Daydream VR with the following modes: Zen, Classic, Arcade and a new PvP mode between two players which will pit the players in a fight to the (fruit) death.

Back then, Adam Wood, product manager of "Fruit Ninja" VR, has said that the game is very much suited with virtual reality. "After the latest VR technology was released, we felt that there was no better game suited to VR than Fruit Ninja," he said. "The simplicity of Fruit Ninja with the total immersion of VR creates an experience like no other."

"Fruit Ninja" first became a massive hit in 2010 in the iOS platform before it branched out into Android, Windows Phone, Symbian, Kinect, Facebook and even Xbox. It claims to be the "great fruit-slicing game in the world" on its official website. Halfbrick Studios hopes to perfect "Fruit Ninja VR" for all major VR devices by October. They have also announced a version for Oculus Rift is currently in the middle of development.
