'Valkyria: Azure Revolution' Coming To The West As 'Valkyria Revolution'

Sega has finally confirmed a western localization for their action RPG "Valkyria: Azure Revolution" The title will be called "Valkyria Revolution" once it hits store shelves in North America and in Europe. The western release date for the game is reported to be sometime in the second quarter of 2017.

The localization of "Valkyria: Azure Revolution" will be handled by Sega for North American markets. The European batch will be localized and distributed by Deep Silver. Siliconera reports that the game was initially slated to be on the Sony Playstation 4 and PSVita only. Its upcoming western localization also reveals that the game will be available for the Microsoft Xbox One as well. Additionally, the western PSVita versions of "Valkyria Revolution" will reportedly be available as a Playstation Store exclusive digital release only.

The setting for "Valkyria: Azure Revolution" or "Valkyria Revolution" in the west, departs from the previous "Valkyria" series' turn-based combat. The story also indicates that the events are happening in a different world. The combat system allegedly plays like a "Dynasty Warriors" game. Despite its action-based system that emphasizes combos, it still retains some tactical components. Players are allowed to customize their weapons and abilities using "Ragnite." The game also features a permanent death system, which changes the outcome if one of the protagonists are killed.

"Valkyria: Azure Revolution's" story revolves around a group of friends known as the "Circle of Five." The group's quest for revenge affects their country causing a continent-wide war. The enemy forces are after a mineral called Ragnite, which holds magical properties. Players will control Amleth, a commanding officer of an anti-Valkyria unit. "Valkyria Revolution" might see some minor name changes during the localization.

A demo for "Valkyria: Azure Revolution" was included with the PS4 release of "Valkyria Chronicles." Sega also explained the reason for their title change into "Valkyria Revolution" for the west. The produces felt that the original name was too much of hindrance when it was translated from Japanese.
