EA Sports UFC News: Three More Added to Game's Head Count - Chan Sung Jung, Costas Philippou, and Forrest Griffin

Forrest Griffin's Retirement isn't Stopping Him From Coming to EA Sports UFC

EA just keeps expanding the roster of its future fighter, EA Sports UFC. The company announced earlier today that three more acclaimed UFC stars have just been added to the game.

Fresh off his loss against Luke Rockhold, the Cyprus southpaw Costas Philippou has been formally announced as a playable fighter in the game. Also added are the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung, and former Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin.

There's a good chance you've heard of Griffin, but if any of those other names don't ring a bell, here's a fact sheet courtesy of EA, and some video highlights proving their worth to the UFC and the game.

Chan Sung Jung
- Current Record: 13-4-0
- From: Po-Hang, South Korea
- Fights Out Of: Seoul, South Korea
-
Strengths: Punching Power, Granite Jaw, Aggressiveness

Standing 5'7" at 145 lbs, the 26 year old "Korean Zombie" is one of the most popular fighters hitting the canvas for the UFC in recent years, Chan Sung Jung also boasts one of the best nicknames in the game - and a has a style to match. Known for his unrelenting pressure, the "Zombie" never stops coming. Combine that with an incredible ability to absorb damage and it's easy to see why Jung's fights are often memorable wars. After winning Fight of the Year honors against Leonard Garcia in 2010 (highlight footage below), he became the first fighter in UFC history to submit someone with a
Twister when he bested Garcia in their 2011 rematch.

Forrest Griffin
- Record: 19-7-0
- From: Columbus, Ohio, USA
- Fights Out Of: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
-
Strengths: Well rounded, Good Grappling Skills, Heart

Credited by UFC president Dana White as the fighter who brought UFC to the masses thanks to his 2005 fight
against Stephen Bonnar in the premiere season of Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter" television show, love him or hate him, it's hard to ignore what 34 year old Griffin has done for the sport. Three yeaars after his praiseworthy fight, the 6'3", 205 lb. contender would become the organization's Light Heavyweight champion after defeating Quenton "Rampage" Jackson in a unanimous decision.

Costas Philippou
- Current Record: 12-3-0, 1NC
- From: Limassol, Cyprus
- Fights Out Of: Long Island, NY, USA
- Strengths: Striking

A constant threat in the UFC's Middleweight division at 5'11" and 185 lbs., Costas Philippou has been hard at work making a name for himself in MMA since taking his first pro bout in 2008. A highly-skilled striker and former professional boxer, the hard-hitting 34 year old Cyprus native packs enough power to end any of his fights by knockout, and boasts six wins by KO in his MMA career. With another win-streak, Philippou stands to establish himself as a true contender in his division.

EA Sports UFC is due on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this spring. It will be the first UFC game to feature female fighters.
