Is President Kirkman dead?
Fans still have to wait for the midseason premiere of the "Designated Survivor" to know who got shot in the finale. If Kirkman indeed took the bullet, it is still unlikely that he is dead. After all, the show is all about the designated survivor, who so happens to be President Kirkman himself (Kiefer Sutherland).
The president's survival will finally open his eyes to the conspiracy that is happening right before his eyes. Kirkman may finally realize that he was used as a pawn to put MacLeish into office. According to TV Guide, perhaps the president will finally realize that someone wants him dead, so MacLeish will become president. This is very obvious, especially since Kirkman's assassination attempt happened right after he swore MacLeish in as Vice President.
Who else could have taken the hit?
Catalan targeted President Kirkman in the midseason finale of the "Designated Survivor." He already has his aim on the president until Hannah showed up and shot his arm. The chances that Kirkman took the bullet are slim, if Catalan's aim swerved. Instead, it is likely that his wife Alex got hit, since she stood closest to him.
The teaser for the midseason premiere of "Designated Survivor" did not reveal the identity of the person on the operating table. However, it is clear that the person's life hangs on a thread.
Emily is in danger
In the midseason finale of the "Designated Survivor," Emily learned that Aaron is a traitor. He leaked the "How To Blow Up the Capitol" blueprints. Her knowledge could put her in danger, not just from Aaron but from whoever he is covertly working with. Chances are, Emily's life will be threatened in exchange for her silence.
