‘Destiny 2’ Release Date, News & Update: ‘The Dawning’ Sure Looks Like A Sneak Peek To What The Sequel Is Like

The recent free update for "Rise of Iron" players takes "Destiny" up to version 2.5. "The Dawning" is so far well-received by fans, as it brings back the ever-so-loved Sparrow Racing. Additionally, the new challenge mechanic deserves a spotlight of its own, which could bring us to the conclusion: this might be a prelude to "Destiny 2."

"Destiny 2" Is A Complete Overhaul

The highly-anticipated sequel, dubbed "Destiny 2," is expected to be a complete revamp for the game, starting with a new planet with a completely massive playable area. Players may encounter new characters, a plausible idea given Bungie has expanded its dev team, reports GamenGuide.

"Vicarious Visions is excited to announce that we are partnering with Bungie to further expand the Award-Winning 'Destiny Universe," the developer announced on Facebook. This collaboration is likely a move to develop the game all the more and materialize what would be called "Destiny 2."

A partner in the initiative, Activision also somewhat confirmed the possibility of a sequel, with Eric Hirshberg himself referring to it as "Destiny 2" during an investor call. "We're on track for what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017. That sequel is designed to both excite our highly engaged current players but also to broaden the appeal," said Hirshberg in November.

"Destiny 2" Is "The Dawning" Of A New Era

"The Dawning" marks "Destiny's" most engaging event to date and further fuels the anticipation to those who managed to stick around. As for lapsed players, they might find themselves returning, courtesy of the new update.

"The Dawning" serves very much like a hint to what "Destiny 2" would be and is very timely to those who have found themselves fall short in keeping track. Bungie has grown bigger and powerful now with the enlisted help, so if you're one of the gamers who grew tired of the game's repetitiveness, a chance for a fresh start is nigh with "Destiny 2."
