Playstation Now Beta Invites Going Out Right Now

Playstation Now Beta Invites Going Out

It appears that people are starting to get chosen for the Playstation Now beta. Sony starting accepting applications soon after the announcement of the streaming service and reports are coming in that invites are going out via email right now. Did you get one?

Gamers at Neogaf have shared the details of the email, which give you an idea of how popular the service will be when it hits later this year. The ability to stream an entire library of PS3 titles to your PS4, Vita, mobile devices or even straight to your (Sony brand) TV? It's pretty impressive stuff, especially if all the reports about the lack of any latency or lag are true.

Here's the full text of the email:

"Congratulations, you have been selected to become one of the first gamers to participate in the PlayStation Now Private Beta!" the invitation reads.

"PlayStation Now is an exciting new game streaming service featuring instant access to a library of popular PlayStation 3 titles with no downloads or trips to the store required.

"With this invitation, you will receive exclusive access to test PlayStation's game streaming service before its full launch and the opportunity to provide your regular feedback to the PlayStation Now team.

"To confirm acceptance of this invitation, please click the link below to accept the Beta license agreement and watch your email in the coming days for your Beta voucher and instructions on how to redeem it.

"For the best experience we recommend

  • connecting your PS3 System to the Internet via wired (Ethernet) connection
  • a 5Mbps or higher speed broadband connection "

As you can see they're really trying to help gamers avoid any kind of lag by making sure their internet is fast enough- wired connections are always faster than wifi. The invite is going out to US Playstation 3 owners right now- we'll see if they test it on any other platforms or locations in the future. According to the email the Beta will commence shortly, so good luck getting an invite. You'll probably be at the end of the list now, and they've doubtlessly got thousands of people signed up already, but if you want to try your hand at entering the Beta you can sign up on the Playstation Now site here.

Playstation Now sounds like a game-changer, an easy work around backwards compatibility in the future. Why would you need a system to be able to play old games when you can just stream them? More on this exciting service as we hear it.
