Lords of the Fallen for Xbox One, PS4: Gameplay Trailer With Developer's Commentary [VIDEO]

First Gameplay Footage for Lords of the Fallen

CI Games has today released the first gameplay footage of Lords of the Fallen, their upcoming action RPG. The game is being developed for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC and you can see it immediately- this is one fanastic-looking game.

While this is pre-alpha footage you can see what they're going for already, intense, one on one duels. Each enemy seems to offer a different challenge and tactic, with the emphasis on big singular combat versus fighting off tons of weaker opponents. It almost looks like Dark Souls in a way, with the emphasis on learning how to maneuver your character and make every hit count. Along with a few lesser foes they show off a boss battle against a gigantic knight called the First Warden that looks like a great challenge, with you knocking off his armor and shield piece by piece before facing his final, berserk form.

You might yawn when you hear that Lords of the Fallen is set in a medieval fantasy world ruled by a "Fallen God", and you're a criminal named Harkyn who's out to fight against the Lords and Generals that command his demonic army. In this world the worst sinners have their faces tattooed in order to mark their crimes, and Harkyn is one of those. In this world they figure they'd fight evil with evil, hence Harkyn being commissioned to fight the demonic God. Even with all of that don't think for a second that the game is character or exploration-driven- the producers themselves have stated that it's all about gameplay, all about tactical combat. The rest is just dressing. When you start the game you can choose one of three characters classes for Harkyn- warrior, rogue or cleric, and eventually choose from countless weapon and armor selections.

If it plays as well as it looks, we're in for a treat. Check out the seven minutes of gameplay footage below and enjoy the developer's commentary, and expect Lords of the Fallen to hit Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC later this year.
