Bethesda Softworks has just announced that Wolfenstein: The New Order will be available in North America on May 20th, 2014 and throughout Europe on May 23rd, 2014. They're released this incredible gameplay trailer and what's more, they've announced that anyone who preorders the game will be invited into the upcoming DOOM beta!
Pick up the game and your boxed copy of the game will have an insert that gives you a code for redemption on the Wolfenstein site here. Enter an email address and they'll contact you at a later date for instructions on getting in. There's no specific details yet on what platforms the beta will be available for, how long it will last, or when it will start- but c'mon, it's the new DOOM! You want it and they know it.
As for Wolfenstein: The New Order, MachineGames is still developing it with the plans that it will revitalize the franchise that started first person shooters as we know them. It's set in the 1960s this time, in a world where the Nazis won World War II after using advanced technology gained through mysterious means. They rule the entire world but that doesn't mean there's not resistance, and in the game you join them, setting off across Europe to bring them down.
This new trailer shows exactly what's happened in the 14 years since World War II. Once again you find series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz doing what he does best- killing Nazis. It starts off with an emphasis on story (more than expected!) but then the action- oh! the action. It looks like the id Software games of old, just pure shooting goodness.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is slated for release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Check out the trailer below!
