Forza Motorsport 5 News: Game Hits 1 Million Sales, Celebrates By Giving Players Free DLC

Turn 10 Gives Forza Motorsport 5 Players New Cars and a New Track for Selling 1 Million Copies

When the Xbox One launched in late-November, shooters like Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts performed extraordinarily well in terms of sales for the console, but in terms of exclusives, players wanted racers, and Forza Motorsport 5 was the game players were looking for, coming in third behind the shooters with sales of close to hallf a million. In other words, it was the best selling exclusive for the Xbox One a week after it hit store shelves. Earlier this week, the racer hit another milestone by crossing the million marker in sales, and developer Turn 10 is giving gamers a free DLC track at no cost to celebrate.

The news came courtesy of a post over at the Xbox Wire. According to the post, the game is now in the hands of over a third of Xbox One owners, making it "the best-selling racing game by console attach over the past decade." The post also came with the usual array of Snapple-esque factoids showing that Microsoft's research department is considerably more thorough than its advertising wing:

- over 653 million road miles have been driven in-game, "the equivalent of circling the planet 49,223 times.
- players have also participated in over 94 million races
- a combined 8 million hours of total gameplay

At best it's borderline interesting, but you'd rather hear about the DLC, right? No worries, the post got into that, too.

"Road America is being offered as a fully-integrated addition to the "Forza Motorsport 5" experience and will be automatically added into the Career events for the racing career. Players will be able to take part in races on the circuit in both the main Career events as well as Career bonus events which are available after a Mini-Career series is complete."

The track features four alternate ribbons, a first for the series. Road America-themed events will also be found in Rivals Mode and multiplayer lobbies.

Lastly, the Road America Booster Pack is also on the table, adding in five carrs for free:

1. 2006 #2 Audi Sport North America R8
2. 1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
3. 1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4
4. 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
5. 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series
